VMC Programmer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Programmer to join our team in the graphite machining industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, with proficiency in Mastercam software preferred. This role involves creating and optimizing programs for precision graphite parts, ensuring high-quality production, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for VMC machines, specifically for graphite machining applications.

- Utilize Mastercam software to generate accurate toolpaths, verify simulations, and ensure efficient material usage.

- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models to produce high-quality machined components.

- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, fixtures and machining strategies for graphite and related materials.

- Work closely with machinists and production staff to troubleshoot issues and improve process efficiency.

- Conduct trial runs and validate CNC programs on shop floor.

- Maintain documentation of programs, tooling setups, and production notes.

- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve part quality, and optimize machine utilization while ensuring dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

- Assist in training machine operators on new programs and machining techniques.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.

- Minimum 4–6 years of experience programming VMCs, preferably in the graphite or similarhigh-precision industry.

- Strong proficiency in Mastercam (or equivalent CAM software); experience with CAD software is a plus.

- Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting tool selection, and material behavior (graphite preferred).

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with operating high-speed graphite machining and multi-axis VMCs.

- Knowledge of fixture design and workholding solutions for graphite.

- Familiarity with CNC machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
